adamc says:
Drop a bunch of kids in an abandoned town and see if they get crazy enough to make some must-see TV. Yes, it's exploitative and a frightening snapshot of our voyeuristic society, but how can you not watch this?

That would be interesting. I just hope there won't be any pigs to slaughter and put the head on a stake....oh, and big boulders to get crushed under. That's a good book to read.

I agree Coco...those bits of the book were disturbing...

I think I would find it too disturbing to watch. I can't really watch any reality TV any more.

Looks like CBS is running out of ideas.

I always thought that mandating this book to read for teens in the midst of emotional upheaval, hormones etc was the stupidest decision ever made.

@wic....I agree with you. We had to read it, too. I hated the book. Never understand what we were supposed to get out of it. There are so many other books that deserve attention.

The worse it ends, the better the ratings!

Of course!

I thought Kid's had parents so they would learn principles. Children seem to be being asked to create a system out of anarchy with too little information or experience. They are being asked to establish behavioral patterns that will be with them for the rest of their lives. Why are they doing this ? To see what happens at somebody else's expense. If a sociologist suggested an experiment along similar lines, I wonder how far they'd get ?

God, this seems incredibly irresponsible.

I'd like was going to criticize CBS, but they won't have a show unless a group of parents were looney enough to sign the release forms.

It makes you wonder of the execs at CBS read more than the first couple of chapters of the book. That's the only explanation I can come up with.

It sounds like insanity, and a pathetic ploy for money and attention. Man our society is screwed up!
Like the comments too. Thanks

Did anyone see their stupid trailer yesterday?

I didn't see it -- how stupid was it? Anything look remotely interesting?

I was flipping through channels and found a kid saying "This is harder than I thought" or something.

I went online and looked for it. The trailer was a condensed version of this.

I saw it. Now, I REALLY wonder about the parents! It might be fascinating to watch to see how these kids manage, but it still doesn't feel right.

What a perverse idea.
On the other hand...kids are pretty darn smart these days.

Reality shows are not based on reality and we all know it. I can hear a producer now telling an 8 year old...no matter what make sure your the one who cries a lot...

Doesn't interest me in the slightest. What will they think of next.

I think it could be a fascinating learning experience for all involved if done with the right attitude, focus and safety plans.
