An excellent editorial by Nicholas.D. Kristof in the N.Y.Times.Mr.Kristof points out that the tremendous amount of money that is being spent on the war in Iraq [which is grossly more than was predicted ]could be much better spent on health care, fighting AiDS,improving our schools, and other such worthwhile programs.

Better spent??? not really. The leftists are the ones complaining we are not spending enough. They wouldn't be happy either way. Not even considering the fact we now have record revenues to the Federal Government. So there are no unfunded programs, only programs that need to be cut. For example. All of them...

We now have record revenues to the Federal government? ... Doesn't really matter much when you also have the biggest deficit in history, does it? You do know that interest on the deficit takes the majority of those revenues?

This is the part that really gets me.
The administration didn’t raise taxes to pay for the war, so we’re financing it by borrowing from China and other countries. Those borrowing costs are estimated to range from $264 billion to $308 billion in interest.p

You are preaching to the choir on this one Enbar. If you've been around here long enough, you would know I am no Bush apologist.
