No great fan of false optimism, this concept of 'dynamic optimism' firmly rooted in realism is a valuable message to those fabulously wealthy cultures tormented by unhappiness, nihilism and making the least worst of a very bad universe the acme of aspiration. great clip wildcat. I myself am an optimist, especially towards our collective capabilities. Thx mcgraf, this is part of my research into alternative forms of optimism, for a paper i am writing, and i agree that the greatest aspect of optimism comes from the realization of what our collective capabilities might imply. Once a philosophy professor asked his class to write an essay that would in some way answer the question "Why?" There were many essays that took much time, and went to great lengths to answer, but there was one answer he awarded full marks, and it contained two words "Why Not?" |
