Honestly, if I had the money I would have purchased a Canon 20D. An awesome camera. However, since I don't have that much to spend on a camera, I opted for a Nikon D50. I think the D50/70/70s are better cameras than the prosumer Canon cameras: digital rebel/rebel XT (300D/350D). I find the rebels too small (I have big hands) and Nikon seems to do better in most of the comparisons. Overall, you can't go wrong with any of them, and each one is capable of great photos. It's really up to the photographer.

I'm a canon digital elph user myself. Started on the S110, now have the S410. LOVE THEM!!!

Expanded. Turns out their listed recall lots weren’t distributed in the US for hte most part (woops — thanks for
letting us know a month late, Nikon), so if you’ve got a D100, D70 and D50, best check again to see whether you have an
EN-EL3 battery that starts with lot numbers 51A 53A or 54A (in addition to the other lots already recalled, just in
case).
