I love taking long walks of discovery like this. It really is the best place to gain a natural understanding of your surroundings. Not sure I'd do the JFK-Manhattan trek though

It's funny, some of my best memories of NYC are of being lost in it, walking around trying to find my way...

Yes, yes and yes! I loved my Manhattan walks. Not so much fun in L.A. (too sunny) but before the population boom, I did a fair amount of it here, too.
