It brings attention to "performance initiatives" as driving policy and strategy , and it is this more than the taxed/private funding issue which is disturbing. The 'sickness' of the NHS, I tentatively believe, is more to do with the fact of outcome measurements and other business models, emphasis on marketing etc., being removed from focus on the core services. So too with education and mortgage selling. Balancing the books seems to have led to the recent UK scandal of disgusting hygiene and resultant deaths. |
