It seems almost every war exposes its own troops to something nasty. I watched a 28 year old man die slowly of cancer after returning from the Gulf War. The saddest thing was when the family wanted to bury him in his uniform, the Navy put them through a lot of red tape....
and then wanted them to pay for the uniform.
VietNam had agent Orange
WWII had mustard gas

Its a sad world.
