Just a few days ago I was listening to NPR and they were interviewing some commander in Iraq. Upon asking, he mentioned that his worst nightmare is that somebody blows up any of these shrines one of these days and then things would just go downhill from there. Well it is mind boggling that with so much security and guarding of this shrine, they still managed to blow it up. But hey, we must keep our resolve to stay there for next fifty years. Meanwhile, I'm getting used to of paying $3.50 for my gas. Obviously no one else is complaining so why should I. So let me get this straight, the 'No blood for oil' mantra is only good so long as oil prices remain low? Seems to me some people are going to find a reason to complain regardless of the situation -- same whine, different reasons. GW wasn't my choice either, but who else was I going to vote for? Al Gore? John Kerry? No thanks. arifsali, this is why G*d invented bicycles But after seeing the lunacy out there, not unlike the palestinian lunacy - I agree that staying there under the current approach would be a mistake. We should cut the levels of troops, move north and keep a watchful and extremely trigger-happy eye on the rest. Iran moves in - let'em have it very clearly and dramatically. Let the Iraqis work it out, fight it out, whatever... they don't deserve the gift the... |
