This is good news - people who had thought they would never vote for a black person are re-considering based on issues. Bravo for them!

You can look at it that way, or you can conclude that Obama is finally cutting in to McCain's "stupid" vote.

Those who only tune in to a presidential election during the last month or two of the campaign are finally seeing through the fog.

Eureka!

His color has nothing to do with it. It's his socialist/Marxist views that are scarey. If you want to vote based on color, how about Colin Powell?

Obama has no socialist/Marxist views, Jerry. Check out this: Is Obama a Socialist? Ask the Socialists and this: No candidate is truly a leftist.

You're repeating a myth that was planted against Democrats years ago and has no basis in fact. We are all capitalists.

Since the very start of the elections, the primaries, back in the first contest in Iowa, the vast majority of this nation is showing itself to be Color Blind (Iowa is only 2% white).

That is the real story here, and it's a good one.

I'll add that the real socialist staring us in the face and who are undeniable is the trillion dollar bailout of Wall St. -- it's the government giving money to the banks, insurance companies, and even Wall St. speculators!

It's astounding! And astounding to hear those folks who whine about 'socialism,' when the real world in front of our face shows Socialism for the Rich -- letting the SuperRich walk away with all their years of profits on stocks (and salarie...

First of all, no country on Earth, not even the United States is pure capitalist nation. That was tried in the 19th century and it lead to failure. The closest thing to capitalism is what it is called State Capitalism, which is capitalism with some state controls. People who proclaim the virtues of capitalism (or any philosophy or dogma) should read up on them before making statements about what is or what is not capitalism (or any other isms).

You want to see real capitalism in action, look at Lebanon and how Hezbollah took over the south of that country.[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._P._Morgan] Look at the life of J.P. Morgan and the Boom-Bust cycles that lead to the Great Depressi...

Another Obama clip with pretty much no substance at all. But 19 people have actually po.... Oh, I see, the people who have popped this are all on the Clipmarks "A" list. These are the Obama clipper lickers that go around clipmarks looking for each others clips and pops them without even bothering to read most of them. I love the irony.

Chestnut, why do you put down what other people enjoy? Why do you make these rude accusations? What do you care that I read what I read? What's it to you? Why read it if you don't like it? Why sprinkle sour grapes on everything? Why take out your grumpiness on other clippers? People can read what they want and clip what they want, surely without others being so insecure as to need to lambast them for it. Why whine?

I don't know if I'm an "A-lister" or a "clipper licker", but I did read the clip... then I popped it. How are you so sure that no one is bothering to read them?

I have noticed some of the same phenomenon mentioned here myself.

Many modern industrial nations are neither pure capitalism nor pure socialism.

Certainly the recent Wall St. Socialism for the SuperRich shows that. Providing any benefits for the poor would show that.

The thing that annoys me about the 'capitalistic talk,' here in the USA - especially right now -- is that they would like to deny that the Wall St. bailout is socialism and would still like to deny any such benefits being given to the Middle Class or poor.

The other phenomena I noticed is that people post clips, and they tend to Pop the clips they like.

What an absurd thing to object to. Isn't that what everybody does?

but once he's in office I don't expect to agree with everything he does at all;

Another good comment, and I agree completely. In fact, I've sometimes said I intend to be the opposition party no matter who's in power. Because power separates people - and I want to be on the side of those who don't have it. I have felt for a year now that Obama's greatest strength was that he wasn't afraid to listen. I disagree with him on a number of issues - but I do believe that there is a chance with him that he will listen to and understand views that are not his own, and be open to modifying his own in order to create a better resolution. I think he's doing that even now on Colombia, and I find that hopeful.

Funny, you should accuse people of that, chestnut501, considering that evidence seems to show that you do exactly the same thing, only for anything even remotely right-wing.

Start thinking critically yourself, before you start being critical of other people.

Or was it your childhood dream to be a troll?

@masbury - (In USA common terms of measurement)

"Our political hopes are often measured in miles but progress comes one inch at a time."

I understand that Sir Thomas More made up the term 'Utopia," from two Greek words, meaning: no place.

Pretty pathetic when the people of the US vote for someone based on what they will "give them". Most don't really even understand that the govt produces NOTHING! They take from one group and give to another...it is called "mob rule", using the force of govt as their weapon. The leftistists on Clipmar* can intellectualize this all they want...some things are just not as complicated as they like to make them.

Theft and deciet pop!

Great quote! Howard Zinn says that we need to hear the history of the dark times of America's past as well as the times we're proud of, because in the darkest times there were heroes laboring steadily, fighting on - and if we don't learn of the dark times, we don't learn of the heroes. Here's a bit of it: Zinn: How not to lose hope when the news is bleak.
