Yet some Americans still argue it isn't really torture.

But you see Mas, he was Japanese, not an American, everybody knows that Americans can't do no wrong, unless they are non-white or pinkocommieliberals or some such.

Yes, how very, very sad it is to me that Americans kill with so little conscience. Hiroshima and Nagasaki - not to mention the firebomb annihilation of other Japanese cities that roasted grandmothers and babies, solely for the purpose of terrorism - demonstrate a very dark side of the American character.

WWII declassified documents from the US Strategic Bombing Survey clearly indicate that the atomic bombings were not necessary (Microfilm Item M1013, Roll 18, Report dated 1 July 1946, National Archives Document). Many people, including members of the government, military and scientific establishments, agreed with General Eisenhower: "Japan was already defeated. It wasn't necessary to hit them with that awful thing."

Where did you find that, Jorjor? I'd like to have a copy. Is it on the web?

You might try the New York Times: G. Alperovitz, "Did We Have To Drop the Bomb?" 3 Aug 1989 page A23. I found this based on an endnote in a book by Alfie Kohn, "You Know What They Say..." (LCCN : AZ999.K64 1990, Dewey 001.9'6).

Admittedly a powerful argument for labeling waterboarding torture.

Proof that waterboarding is torture under the law.

It's not a question if water boarding is torture. It has never been a question.

Mainstream Jerry Springer Media & shouting pundits and confrontational political stratagest argue about it but not only do all these clowns appear devoid of any moral compass (and would like us to be same) but they apparently need to pretend their is a debate about what is already established law: like murder is illegal, for example.

The denial goes even deeper, consider this now heard common statement: "Americans don't torture."

Have you heard that?

Have you seen the photos from Abu Graib?

Looking at the photos of Abu Graib and repeatedly hearing neocon warmongers and others say: "Americans Don't Torture," ...

Masbury: I wasn't aware of this. Live and learn.

Jorjor: once again well done.

Thanks.

Of course, American soldiers in uniform have been waterboarding brown people who won't submit since The Philippines.

Here's a pic of soldiers waterboarding a prisoner in Vietnam. They were drummed out of the Army for it.

I don't think we executed any of our own for waterboarding. But then, I'm against the death penalty in general.

But America does have this tradition of waterbaording brown locals whose country we've invaded.

I'm just sayin'...
