joaaron2468 says: Hey Global warming freaks, explain this issue in the 70's If you're looking for certitude than you aren't familiar with how science works. Over time our store of knowledge increases and new evidence is added. Predictions change to adapt to the new information. And I'm not so sure how much I'd depend on the Readers Digest for the latest in scientific information. A lot can change over 35 years. However weather patterns and climate change in the last 35 years is a blip. 35 years, going from saying next ice age to present, saying melting ice caps, one has to question the science, research methods, and also the big elephant in the room, the political agenda. I agree that climate data for only 35 years is insignificant but our scientific understanding has grown significantly over the past 35 years. As far as the elephant in the room, a case could be made equally well that the oil and coal lobbies have the bigger pachyderms. Scientific prognostication is not perfect. But it's the best that we have to work with at the time. As new data unfolds the response to that data will change also. Are there extremists on both sides? Without a doubt. I do question your strident tone to people who disagree with you as being "global warming freaks". That seems to shut off communication when we need to keep communication open. Anger won't solve this problem. Oh, crap, listen AtiLiberal, I really do give a rip how you are "feeling" about me calling some over the top eco-green junkies "freaks". Stop whining. Not whining. Just stating the obvious. Well, if we are going to go by such small time scales, how about the fact that there has been no warming in nearly a decade? It isn't any warmer now than it was in 1998. |
