I'll not forget the motorcycle ride I took through he Oakland hills in September '91 on sunny and windy Sunday with dry leaves swirling around the narrow residential roads.
17 years later I'm looking at another piro-catastrophe but online. The same type of flimsy building materials, the same type of wooded , secure and secluded areas and same scale of heroic fire fighting to the rescue. Why has no one asked what possibly could the value of insurance settlements compare with trying to sell these homes nowadays?
If only this much footage could be aired about the thousands of Californians facing the flames of a worldwide economic turn-down.

It's pretty hairy - if I walk down to the end of the street I can the the orange glow of the fire cresting the Chino hills. Hope everyone makes it out okay - there isn't much danger to us, thankfully.

All of my family is down there, in California, mainly San Diego. Every year it seems like lately I sit, watch the new and hope they are all ok. I hope anyone and everyone who has family there or is there, is ok.

Yes, bjtindle, my all good wishes are with Californians. News agencies have reported 11 injuries so far, I hope these are not any deaths or deadly injuries.
