Though just anectdotel, i have personally witnessed an increase in the number of people in the coffee areas of local book stores recently. I sometimes work from home and on those days i often hit the bookstore for a cup of coffee and a couple hours of work. Without question, competition for outlets has increased lately.

I love going to the library. Unfortunately after looking after my grandchildren all day I'm usually to tired to walk the few blocks.
