kcarr33 says: Watch these videos; one woman shot with rubber bullets for holding a sign -- police yuk it up the next day. We have a certain segment in this country that is turning into fascists. If we don't get Bush out, We will be no better then Germany was, when Hitler took control. Isn't it ironic that the "freest country in the world" is run by fascists, and they have created a police state to ensure that the Great Unwashed keeps its mouth shut. "Free speech" and dissent seem to irritate them more than the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Oh didn't you hear? They shit canned those things. I can't believe what I'm seeing isn't from an old Nazi war movie! In the US! This isn't the country I grew up in. I think that there is a popular misconception about the defence of human rights as a glamorously international pursuit; a misconception exploited by conservative nationalists and middle-class liberals alike. As Forghani makes clear in her letter, the struggle for an end to human rights abuses is far from glamorous and in her case is not for a 'minority' or 'ethnic group' - that those on the far right like to tell us are being privileged over a now mythic 'indigenous peoples', the white working-class - but for the familiar and local people in Iran - her mother, brother, neighbour, as well as the poor village girl in a distant province. Her fight is against abuses that come in many guises: cla... This is the time that the police need to step up and state that they are not separate from the people. They need to follow that "zero tolerance" mandate forced upon children in schools and enforce it upon their own. These animals need to be immediately removed from our police force. There is no debating that these cops were in the wrong and those that would not only support, but encourage such acts need to be thrown out. These days I'm torn between teaching my children that the police are safe havens that they can turn to in times of trouble, or if they should run and hide when they see them. It echoes strongly in my ears... "Gotta get down to it Soldiers are cutting us down Should have been done long ago. What if you knew her And found her dead on the ground How can you run when you know? Tin soldiers and Nixon coming. We’re finally on our own This summer I hear the drumming Four dead in Ohio." If you ever doubt it could happen here in the USA, just remember - Kent State BartendingBear - what is that from? I was not that old when it happened. Is it from a song? "Ohio" by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Well, maybe not Neil. He was in and out and in and out, so there might well be recordings both ways. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself -- Archibald Macleish: = There are men - now in power in this country - who do not respect dissent, who cannot cope with turmoil, and who believe that the people of America are ready to support repression as long as it is done with a quiet voice and a business suit -- John Lindsay These videos prove that our country is not a free country. This proves that our constitution is in jeopardy, our so called elected officials don't care about the constitution. But we must remain strong and still fight for what is right. Even it it cost us of out own life, so that our next generation can be free. I say give me liberty or give me death! It demonstrates again that power in the form of "brute force" always belonged to some wealthy elitist group who has always been in charge of "modern" civilization. We, the "ordinary" people are nothing more than brainwashed modern slaves. When "they" decide our role has ended, they create forms of social unrest that give them a "carte blanche" to enslave us even more, or to just wipe us off the face of the earth. Europe is taking another kind of approach tough, but in the end it's all part of the same sick Darwinist agenda they tweaked in their advantage. Darwin just meant it completely opposite: "they" are sickening the earth, so "they" should be exterminated at once! Before we're all microchipped like cattle... What is more frightening than the rich and powerful are contemptuous of dissent, is that so many of the ordinary, working people, who are police officers or service personnel, share the same contempt and are willing to suppress those who dissent. Look at apartheid in South Africa. It was mainly enforced by black police officers. In South America the death squads that murder whole villages are recruited from similar villages and towns. Why is it that the rich and powerful stand together in confronting us, but we do not stand together in confronting and controlling them? When we have the answer to that, we will have a chance of creating a fairer and a better world for all. |
