Maybe that's why "sleeping on it" is often such a good idea, and salespeople trying to put one over on you are always in a hurry.

Perhaps it is the disordered mind that best enables intellectual and emotional joy, one in which disciplined techniques and learned patterns are utility tools for a greater project. In my experience, people who are unhappy (nowadays it is called 'emotional distress') and intellectually inadequate (and the two often go together, so that emotional and intellectual life are attributes of one concept) suffer from rigid thinking styles, a highly restricted number of cognitive strategies, and a range of similar orders (as opposed to disorders) that used to be called neurotic. The unfortunate individual thus described is interpellated by a culture which orders subjectivity in this way ideologically...
