boniface says: In every case, the volunteers saw the books given as an indication of the likes of the donors, except in the case of the Wicca books. Here they must have become "disillusioned" or just doing "research." People! Is it possible they liked and/or practiced Wicca? Have you ever considered THIS as a possibility! This may be a question for wiccantexan It's the same for clippers. The subject matter clipped reveals much about the clipper's interests, beliefs and ethics. Some of the donated books might belong to someone other than the person bringing them in. A spouse, a child, an adolescent, an expired relative. The books might also have been received as gifts. I seldom donate books until I've got a box or two of them to make the hauling worthwhile. The first thing into the box are the books I'm not going to read (then the ones I'm not going to reread...). My second wife's daughter and her husband are Wiccans. They're harmless, friendly, and the Wiccan activities seem like extended-family type stuff. Thanks, egoldstein. sl0wdjin, the point being made was that in all the other cases, it was linked directly with the person's active interests. In the case of the Wicca/witchcraft books, they were simply "disillusioned" or just "doing research." As if the idea that there were witches/Wiccans out there was a preposterous one, and it must have been just a passing fancy. That point was easily apparent. And I doubt the opinion casters took into account any of the possibilities I just pointed out, either. There are lots of reasons folks shouldn't jump to conclusions. However, some appear to be in an Olympic competition on that kind of jumping. That point was easily apparent. But your statement didn't come across that way, which is why I commented. Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come across to anyone in a manner other than the way your cohort was presenting it! Just trying to add to the background mix on the topic. Or, as the kids say, "just sayin'"... heeheehee. My "cohort." Well, he's been called worse things. Hm, I'm a "hort" my wife's a "hort," when we're together, we're "cohorts." Hort, hort, hort! Sorry, something about the sound of that word just makes me giggle He's so easily amused. At least it keeps him distracted. |
