Asked whether the case in Beit Shemesh and the one two weeks ago of a US immigrant family accused of severely abusing their six children indicated a rise in abuse within the haredi community, both Slutzky and Kadman concurred that it was more a case of increased awareness and reporting.

Kadman noted that child abuse cases have gone up in recent years, but that this was the case in all of society, not particularly in the Haredi community.

Circular Reaction -- although certainly abusing children is something I'm against.

So...the Pope was in the USA yesterday and one headline read: Pope Benedict XVI tells bishops to fight sexual abuse.

And hundreds of children have been grabbed in Texas and removed from a religious compound because of a report of sexual abuses...a report which can not be confirmed and may have been a prank call.

I support all the abusers going to jail but I sometimes feel the more well connected (white, rich, and mainstream) folks get away with more...and also that this is a Big Stick used to disgrace and discredit people.

Like the saying goes .... If your not part of the solution your part of the problem.
