You'd be surprised. I helped out in the early years of computing to get people's computers working locally. Some of the stuff I saw was mind boggling.

One guy kept saying he couldn't get his system to boot (this was pre-windows DOS days). I got together with him and gave him a fresh boot disk with all the instructions to run his computer and then right in front of me he folded the 5 1/4" floppy and put it into his shirt pocket.

On several occasions I had to remove 2 or more disks that were crammed into one floppy drive because the computer said "Insert Disk 2" and never told them to remove the first.

Many times people crammed CD rom disks into floppy drives.
