This is driving me nuts....all the time I get this error.

And not to brag, but I just bought a brand spanking new Macbook and have a rock star PC. I'm sure it's not my hardware. I get this message on both of my computers?

Saving clips is FRUSTRATING.

Time to upgrade the server or what? Who is running this site anyway? ANNOYING.

No problems here Clip.
I have never received such an error here on ClipMarks.

What do you do?
If you reload the page does it go away?

I am also getting it. And attempting to post comments is a nightmare. Beginning to think Diigo is a better option.

It seems like the problems are happening around midnight my time. Clipmarks is responding okay for me now though. Strange. I'm not sure what is going on. Quagaa, you are right! Comment posting attempts take several times.

Have no idea what is going on...

artdawgs, I reload the page, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I just don't know.

When I "time-out"..... I cmd Alt + <---, and if that doesn't work I retrieve the "save clip" from my "History" on my toolbar. (or in my "history" side-bar)

Antara, I thought it was just me getting this error. Weird. I was starting to feel paranoid. Ha!

Merrie, one of your clips was showing up in "My Guides" but I couldn't access it. When I refreshed, your clip disappeared. Very strange.

hi, i got a similar error for weeks (not the timed-out part but continual server error). i couldn't post a clip at all so i wrote to clipmarks but the reply was they didn't know this could happen. It hasn't stopped my comments or pops (yet). it seems to have improved but as you say, it gets frustrating to keep losing one's clips. i know of one clipper who only lost his pop power....ok, hope it gets sorted for you too xc

I had this time-out problem a while back and had to re-clip 3-4-5 times sometimes. I was SO annoyed with this (and also, that I couldn't save private clips anymore with more than 1000 characters), so I decided to downgrade to an older version of the clip tool (to 3.5.0) and because it was incompatible with FF 3.5, I top installed an older version there too (no settings lost) and now I have no problems whatsoever clipping.

I DO have problems sometimes with posting comments, though. They just "hang" and won't post or else they just disappear. I've learnt to copy whatever comment I want make to the clipboard, before trying to post it, because nothing is more annoying that having to re-write a...

"lost in space" is a good description. That is EXACTLY what is happening to me too.

I've been getting the sever error for several weeks now, but it only seems to happen after midnight Central time. I've never had the comment or popping issue at all (knock on wood). There has never been a time following the last major update that the clip add-on has been right in Firefox for me. I've never seen the checkbox to turn the orange lines on or off.

"I've never seen the checkbox to turn the orange lines on or off"

Me neither and this makes clipping images from multiple sources (eg Google Images) impossible.... very frustrating.

Happens to me too (time out). In my experience it eventually sorts itself out. but it would be good to alert the CM folks to this clip's comments, it might help identifying the problem.

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago, but it's been okay for me since then. I hope it clears up for you - it's frustrating.

ps - very jealous about your Macbook - I hope to be able to make the jump from a PC to a Mac next year.

Hey clipon - I have managed to isolate my problems to my recent upgrade with my antivirus (avg 9.0) Disabling linkscan and webshield resolves the problem pretty much. Though, I don't necessarily want to surf the net like this for too long. I am awaiting a reply from avg tech support.

I also upgraded to the latest firefox and they have a pop up which also interferes with the uploading of comments etc. Eric and Derek are aware of it and I tested out clipmarks at an internet cafe and had no problems at all. I am also posting back to Eric/Derek so they can work out glitches if any on their end.

It would help them to feedback to them also I suspect.

They just "hang" and won't post or else they just disappear.
Yep, after loading 4.0. Previous was better.

1. They just "hang" and won't post or else they just disappear.
2. Who is running this site anyway?
3. I was starting to feel paranoid.
1. Screened, censored, deleted.

2. Who else, but. . . ?

3. Trust your instincts.

First, I'm very sorry all of you are having so many problems. I can assure you we will do our best to get them resolved asap.

Regarding AVG, it is true that we have identified a problem with the latest version (9.x). We are also trying to contact them to try to get this resolved. The issue causes random drops in your connection to us and it seems the more you try to hit our sites, the worse it gets. Unfortunately, the only thing we can do at this point is to try our best to get AVG to look into this. If you are still running AVG 8.x like I was, I would suggest that you do not upgrade to 9.x until you have to in order to stay protected as 8.x does not have this problem.

That said, the...

I forgot to touch on the orange lines comment... That feature was removed intentionally because it caused to much confusion for new users. However, it is still available using a shortcut key combination, "ctrl+shft+alt+b".
