ladyC says: Ain't this something else The problem now is that they can't blame it on Bush anymore and they surely are not going to blame Obama. That's because your not paying attention, not at least to your fellow clippers. NYT will go with whomever is in the WH until their popularity drops below 40%. ratifar, I agree with you. I'm a liberal and I'm plenty outraged. The NYT hardly represents the liberal point of view, not that any conservatives would know that. Obama's turning out to be just another establishment tool, same as all the tools that came before him. The real question is how come you cons aren't seeking an investigation into the Bush administration vis-a-vis torture and the lies he told us to get us bogged down in Iraq. That's not likely to happen since most conservatives refuse to admit they're wrong about anything, even when the facts are staring them square in the face. pop for roughy Rougy44, the reason most conservatives aren't seeking an investigation for torture and Iraq is because we believe it has saved this country from further terrorist attacks. What if Bush did nothing after 9/11 and another American city had been blown apart with 1000s of deaths? We would call him a "do nothing" president. What if the information they received by water boarding saved an American city and many lives? This country has never been attacked before on it's shores. I doubt anyone had a clear response to this, but he had to try something. Right or wrong, we have had no further attacks. Now, as Obama is pulling back and making friends with the enemy, we will all see whether we ... jay do you even bother to read the evidence that waterboarding produced false information which in part led to the invasion of Iraq? Do you read the accounts of how we treated some of these prisoners-the inhumanity is stunning. Behaving like the enemy is not the answer. Do you read the accounts of many military, FBI, and some conservatives who denounce those practices and say they did NOT save lives? Do you even try to give yourself a balanced viewpoint? We are making enemies the world over with Dick Cheney's worldview which you seem to have faith in. It is the surest path to others wanting to atomize us, so I guess we'll be in perpetual war until they are all dead and gone, which will be... deb2012, I hope I did not give the impression I believe in torture, but in the wake of 9/11, I am saying our country was in a quandary on what to do. It apparently made the Bush Administration anxious enough to use torture to get information to save us from another terrorist attack. If it did, then why investigate and drag out this dirty linen for the world to see. I hope no one thinks they tortured these terrorist just for the fun of it. It was a desperate time and men do desperate things to solve serious problems. I hope no one thinks they tortured these terrorist just for the fun of it.Nope, but I do think there may have been a political and ideological attempt to thwart the law and the constitution which in the end has eroded our ability to be the beacon of shining light, which has made us more hated by our enemies, and which just by the evidence of it's illegality should be prosecuted in the appropriate court of law, just as we would expect of any accused criminal. I'm not in favor of saying "Oh you were scared so we won't uphold the law" Politicians should be held accountable. I continue to see a small representation of people here who want to make it part of our values to tortu... Better than being seduced by an idiot |
