Beide Räder müssen still stehen, der Fuß muss von der Pedale auf den Boden gesetzt werden. Insofern sind Radfahrer allen anderen Verkehrsteilnehmern gleichgestellt. Allerdings ist die Anhaltepflicht für die Radfahrer besonders ineffektiv, denn es kostet viel Energie, ein Fahrrad abzustoppen und danach wieder auf Reisegeschwindigkeit zu bringen. Im Staat Idaho in den USA gab es kürzlich eine Gesetzesinitiative, die zum Ziel hatte, das Gebot zum Halt bei Stopschildern für Radfahrer aufzuweichen. Statt vollständig anzuhalten würde es nach diesem Gesetzesentwurf ausreichen, langsam an eine Stopstraße heranzurollen und sie zu passieren, wenn sie frei ist. Das so genannte <EM>Idaho Stop Law</EM> wurde vom Parlament leider nicht verabschiedet.
