adamc says: We've always wondered what kind of model would unfold with Clipmarks. Will everyone be a clipper? Will we have a huge visitor base that simply enjoys what the core group of clippers are contributing to the site? Some clippers do a bunch of commenting but not much popping. I think it'll vary depending on all kinds of people, cultures, needs etc. Some will use it for tracking their own stuff, others for seeing what others are up to, and everything in between. Personally I don't got back to the old clips that much, since I'm more interested in the current events and the future. I am a big fan of history, but rereading stuff about 2 idiots shooting up a school 8 years back just isn't worth my time. I'm sure others will have other sentiments. I think the important thing is that Clipmarks allows many different kinds of people to use the site for many different tasks and needs and that's what's most important. Will everyone be a clipper? Will we have a huge visitor base that simply enjoys what the core group of clippers are contributing to the site? What do you think Adamc? What excites me is that there are so many opportunities for people to participate in the Clipmarks experience. As clipmarks.com becomes into a Web discovery engine for anyone to enjoy, I imagine more and more people will want to participate in the experience on some level, whether it be popping their favorite clips, commenting, collecting other people clips, posting clips to their blog, emailing them, or becoming a clipper themselves. So I guess I'd say I'm somewhere in between. You won't necessarily have to be a clipper to enjoy Clipmarks, but there will be so many fun, spontaneous ways to get involved that we could see a higher percentage of participants than YouTube, Flickr, and even Wikipedia do. A minimum of how many clips per person per day would gladden your heart, AdamC? I'm no slouch (I hope) and can clip to a target. Or is that a really stupid question? (Now, be kind!) I'll jump in on that one michellezm. I don't think there is a number. I think what's cool about clipmarks is you don't really know what you're going to clip or when you're going to clip. It just becomes a natural reaction you have in response to certain types of things you find on the web. Sometimes i go a while without clipping...and sometimes i clip a few things in a day. Totally depends on how i react to things i see on the web. I first started clipmarks just for myself: so I wouldn't have to bookmark an entire site when I was just interested on small portion, but now I'm finding that I'm getting more involved in the social end, and checking out other's clips. When I need a distraction, it's great to go see what others find while they're out on the web. Maybe others find themselves doing the same thing long after becoming a clipmarks user... |
