In Ireland having diabetes isn't such a big deal, IMO.

All drugs in anyway related to diabetes eg heart, are FREE.
All consultant treatment is FREE.
All treatment is GREAT. May be it would be as good without.
I've changed easily to a 95% healthy diet.
Exercise is improving.
Giving up cigarettes in 2002 was the best decision.

Righthand, I know you are aware people all over Ireland are protesting the lack of good medical services lately??
Not to mention the fiascos involving the breast cancer mis-diagnoses, etc.

Nothing is free really, somebody is always paying the bill.
Yes, we are living in Boom times here at the moment, but to claim that things are all peachy pie is not quite the reality, in my eyes anyways. I have heard some harrowing stories of late, trust me.

Ps: glad you are living healthy, I too put down the smokes in june of 2002 Saves a lotta money!

I too listen to the daily cockups. I can only give you my personal experiences. IMO, diabetics are well cared for in Ireland.

Yes the cost of smokes was a big factor for me too. I was off them months before telling anyone except my immediate family.

Stay healthy.

My son and all of my ex-husband's family have developed (or are in grave danger of developing) diabetes. His two daughters are overweight and I know in danger of developing it too.

The USA is a fast food nation. High fat, high sugar, high cholesterol, virtually no nutritional value meals filling up our children's stomaches because their parents are too stressed and busy (or lazy) to fix them a nutritious home cooked meal.

I'm glad you are heading towards a more healthy lifestyle! As for me, I have never smoked, drank to excess, or gotten fat and unhealthy. I won't let those things take hold of me and get me out of control.

I think all medical treatment should be free, or at the very le...

Well what can I say.
Stay healthy and stay or unhealthy and move. Ha ha. No you don't need diabetes to come.

May you always be healthy and may you visit us sometime and return home even healthier, Macariel.
