blueridge says: What does Biden know, and what does he mean here? This part catches many reader's eyes: Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."JFK had his Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Joint Chiefs had also drawn up Operation Northwoods, a deceptive act to justify invasion of Cuba, which JFK had rejected. So Biden's reference to JFK is real interesting. ...like they did John Kennedy.Things can be done, or "generated", to force President's hands into a course of actions (by third parties), contrary to their promises, just like GWB and 9/11 which "changed everything". There is no telling just what Obama might do, but Biden seems to know something in advance, or his warning would not be so direct instead of merely hypothetical. He states this as if it is absolutely certain.s Actually, the idea that "Biden seems to know something in advance," might not be true at all. He is noted for sometimes speaking before he thinks. It was certainly a dumb thing to say, wasn't it. Obama's biggest weakness in the polls is always on National Security and him being Commander-in-Chief....this is the only thing where McCain does better. (Note: I'm glad the pathetic Republican campaign didn't focus on this; it might have had some effect; certainly more than the ridiculous seams they tried to use, like Obama being a friend of terrorist.) In fact, though, I think the idea that any new president would be challenged would be a common expectation. Poor Joe, put his foot in his mouth again. "Mark my words" (per Biden's speech) is now being used for a new McCain campaign ad, per CBS tonight. Dangerous ads. If McCain focused on this a few weeks ago he might have had a chance to win the elections. Thank God he was for lack of substance and hollow smears instead. This Biden speech got Pat Buchanan's attention too (here). He writes: A "generated crisis"? By whom? Moscow? Beijing? Tehran? |
