ouyangwulong says: T'wil soon be Clipsmas, and t'is the season for reflective discussion, contemplative reading, somewhere between the smoky fire and icy window, preferably sinking into a soft worn-out arm chair. And what could be better for contemplative discussion than heart-stopping quantities of alcohol and heavy cream? Because I can't physically share a glass with you all, but love everyone none the less, in the esprit de Clipsmass, here's my favorite Eggnog Recipe, inaugurating my food blog! Please drink responsibly. Friends don't let friend drink and clip! YUMMY. Do not forget to add the Crown! Merry Clipsmas! What a weird coinky-dink. I've had this cookbook for about 25 years. I'm not from Louisiana or anywhere south. Born in Washington state and been here over 57 years now. Happy holiday times to you! ::raises glass of nog:: More coinky-dink than you know. My mom brought this book with her out of the south, but I've lived all my life in Mukilteo, Washington (Or at least it's my only listed address!) The coincidence deepens because I was born in Everett, Washington, 25 years ago, presumably the same time you bought your copy of this cookbook! ::Twilight Zone:: My daughter, who is in the Navy, was stationed in Everett, assigned to the Abe Lincoln until this past February. (I'm further south, down here in Vancouver) Thanks for sharing a great recipe. I usually buy the nog at the supermarket and add the bourbon (s). I can't find the eggnog here in Ireland so I was very happy to try your recipe. If I remember.... how did it taste...ah yes, it was very very good! I know its a sin, but I also normally toss in an ounce of 21 year old Highland Single Malt Scotch to give it a nice spicy smoky finish. Trust me, it makes a difference. Merry Clipsmas to you too, I know its a sinRepent sinner or burn for all eternity in the lake of fire! But then again, repentance is over rated and all and I say sin away OW! I don't like eggnog. I prefer beer. I like another Christmas drink though, called Gløgg. Soak raisins in Akvavit. Mix 2 bottles of red wine, some cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom, a sliver of lemon peel, some almond splits, the raisins and a good healthy splosh of Cognac (or more Akvavit) in a pot and heat it up. Not too much though, you don't want all the alcohol to evaporate. Serve it up in tall glasses. It's YUMMY! Serves one. *LOL* Actually, TN, if you click through to my blog, you will notice my impromptu, highly anecdotal history of Eggnog. Originally, it was made with beer! So see, you can have the best of both worlds. Love the recipes and the comments. Great ideas! Merry Clipsmas to you too! Merry Christmas OW. Take care |
