I read somewhere, but I can't find it now, that one way for people to support the writers' strike is not to download shows from the internet. The writers get no residuals for downloads because the studios describe them as "promotional" even if there are commercials or you have to pay for the download.

No residuals from "new media" is one of the items in the negotiations.

I am now and have in the past been a published writer and author. I don't do that now, but If men and women like me can't share in the residuals from sales of material, that "WE" have written, then there a real problem. I fully support the writers strike and hope that the people that do make money on sales of Cd's and DVD's share that bit o'wisdom. There would be no sales of anything, if there weren't writers! no one has MORE right to that money than they do, but all they want is to share. A small percentage as well. It's not like the want it All! Give in so we can enjoy the many and varied talents of these men and women! thank you-
