merrie says: The arrests dealt a tumultuous blow to Illinois government, at once raising questions about the leadership of the state and the fate of the open Senate seat—which the governor alone has the power to fill under the state law. The allegations against Blagojevich provide a sharp contrast to a Democratic governor who campaigned for office promising reforms in the wake of disgraced, scandal-tainted Republican chief executive George Ryan. Unsurprisingly, Obama knows nothing.....lol I thought that was funny too, Antara...as he whistles past the graveyard. But frankly, I don't care which political party it is (though the Dems in Chicago are notorious!!!), I want them all exposed and prosecuted. I truly am sick of this kind of corruption; all the while, I doubt that there's a single politician that does not have suspicious ties. It seems that his wife was heavily involved also though not listed 'by name' in the indictment. Does anyone wonder if Blagojevich thinks that he has immunity from prosecution b/c he has "political connections in Washington" now? Blagojevich is dead-meat and under the bus with all the other scum bags. The salient question becomes, when will he spill his guts. He'll likely spill to save his skin, to a degree. It's unlikely that Obama is at fault here in any way, based on the comments on tape and it would be absolutely stupid if there was direct communication between them (which would be on tape) and he publicly said there wasn't. I may not agree with many of Obama's intended policies, but he's no dummy. So, it's the blago-boy all the way... although it's amazing how big his cajones are to know he's being investigated and have these kinds of conversations... unless of course he's one of those alternate realists, a narcissistic sociopath or a complete dummy. In any case - the man's clearly going down in flames, as he should. Shame on him, peopl... Last week, OJ Simpson, blubbering in front of the court and the world, now this: This goofball is clearly delusional! Later, the governor put it more, er, succinctly: The Senate seat "is a f---ing valuable thing, you just don't give it away for nothing." Maybe an ambassadorship. Maybe an appointment as Health and Human Services secretary -- a "trade" as he put it. Or maybe Energy, a loyal aide suggested, because that department is "the one that makes the most money." Now we're all getting nauseated. But it gets worse. Ever the caring hubby, he's looking out for his wife's bottom line, wondering aloud to hi... That and the fact that he was considering a run for the White House... talk about unrealistic goals... the guy should share the cell with Spitzer... so he doesn't get lonely. Obama is certainly being a standup guy by telling him to resign... yesterday's comment along the lines of something Bart Simpson would say was total BS. Today's was much better. He heard the tape... we all did... the smoke is still coming out of that gun. The mysterious "Senate Candidate 5" came forward today, after an interview by the press with his attorney. Jesse Jackson, Jr., adamantly denied even having met with Blogojevich "face-to-face" until yesterday. He strenuously denied having lobbied in any illegal manner for the senate seat, but claimed he was the best qualified for that seat. That leaves another four pols of the Illinois "bidders" to step forward, as it would be in their best interest to voluntarily cooperate in the case. Gut spilling is likely the next step for blago... So, whether they come out or not isn't as relevant, as what the man will release as time goes on, to diminish his punishment. I just hope for the sake of the country it's not one of those unravelings that's worthy of a Clancy book & a Hollywood movie. If everyone in Chicago's political system is this corrupt - this kind of gives Obama a pass for his associations... since he's from there and no matter who he associated with - they'd all be guilty. If that's not the case - he sure knows how to pick 'em. |
