He was sentenced to 3 yrs because of the embarrassment to his country. Damn. Still, he had to know the consequences would be steep. I am no Bush fan and certainly NOT happy about the war, but wouldn't his sentence have been far worse if Hussein had still been in power? Just curious... Apples and Oranges. If Iraq is such a bastion of democracy today, why should such an act of defiance/protest get you a 3 years prison sentence? I agree ratilfar, of course, but all I'm saying is, from what we've known about Hussein, he would have put him away for 10 lifetimes. I'm just wondering what the sentence would have been then, if it's extreme now, y'know? I read a book years ago on Hussein. At the time I really didn't have a grasp of who he was, until I read it. He did some outrageous things to his people. But on the other hand, we had Bush.....hehe!... |
