Honestly, I think that's overdoing it. I'm all for separation of church/state in the public school as far as a captive audience, but this is the student's personal profile in a yearbook. Nobody's being forced to read it. PC nauseates me. Speaking as a non-Christian, I would not be offended in the slightest by the entry. Plus, they should have at least told him what was fair game and what was not before it was published. It's always interesting to look back at what one thought in high school. He'd have gotten a good kick out of it 20 or 30 years later. Nevertheless, like you said, there was no captive audience. And I'm sure there were no words of hate or slander. |
