I'm not worried about people confusing the winners of the awards with being the best at anything except (maybe) having some kind of mass appeal. Is the movie that wins "best picture" at the Academy Awards really the best. Um...no. Do people think it's the best? I don't think so. It's a bunch of marketing hoopla that frankly, is kind of fun and helps some people make money. And there are all kinds of other competitions that focus on non-Hollywood movies. People can create an anti-competition! Hey, did you post video on your blog? You win! Group hug. Group victory dance!</P><P>
It is kind of funny when we think of vlogging as a telephone-like communication. Is there a best phone conversation award? No, but I bet it would be very entertaining!</P><P>
Nobody owns videoblogging. We can boycott the competition, start alternatives, work with Podtech to make the kind of thing we would like. It's all open. </P><P>
