adamc says: Raises interesting questions. Would you want to have access to everything you've ever twittered? Will corporations be able to paint a picture of you based on "what you've been doing" for the past X years? Found via this clip Twitter is a great tool for design inquiry and personal history. It is screaming for an academic research project as well. Why do we need a blow by blow account of each others lives.Indeed, alanocu. There are several research projects emerging around connecting people in different locations. I think Twitter easily falls into that category, as anyone who is using that or another similar service (particularly in a small group of friends) will attest. Twitter isn't about trivial reporting; it is about the act of connecting with others. I DO want to hear when a friend is having a rough time filling out office paperwork. Having her take the time to stop and write a 140-character missive to report about it is an act of connection, not egomania. I feel much closer to my friends through Twitter. It would be soo easy for Big Brother to use almost anything against anyone for no reason other than to have something to gossip about. spread rumors of or destroy innocent people with. Not to mention ones personal enemies, per se. If you have those, and I believe most people do at one time or another, and if you live long enough... erm... anything is possible! It's good to be careful about your Internet activities I suppose?! lol thank goodness for the delete button.....ooops hit junk again.....lol by the way? when i first clicked this? thought this had everything to do about ....lol...birds Thanks Adam, I didn't read this until Jan. 2008, but I am concerned about saving a record of my work. It seems that I forgot that when I first started using all these interactive (web2.0) applications. |
