I have NO words for this mess. I have teenage children, if I give them OTC pain meds - they have proper instructions for taking them and there is a note sent to the teachers. If the school said she couldn't have them and I felt that she needed them then I would keep her home until she was better, if they stripped her? Heads would roll.

This was not OTC, it was prescription strength. But strip searching her, I'd say the student will win--even though there are all sorts of laws about drugs possession & drug dealers on school property. If the principal suspected, why didn't he call police and report it--I think that is what is required for federal gun law violations and drug law violations on school property. JeannieGirl, do a follow up on this clip--did the principal and his female assistants get fired? suspended? placed on administrative leave? As a retired teacher I understand trying to keep the other students safe, but I believe (strongly suspect) he overstepped his authority. The town of Stafford has a population o...

@Satchamo: I agree with what you're saying but the article itself is confusing to me because 400mg ibuprofen is not rx strength here in Canada, I have a $3 bottle beside me as I type. As for a followup - I am trying to stay with it because I am a news junkie but this is the latest there is as yet. I'll keep you up to date if more shows itself...

I just looked in my medicine cabinet, my OTC ibuprofen is only 200 mg. I live in a small rural school district--800 students grades k - 12-- in Missouri, until recently the meth capital of the USA and in one of the top producing counties in MO. no less--if a principal here suspects drugs they call the police & juvenile authorities. Drug dogs are brought to the school about once a month to check the cars in the parking lot and go through the halls checking the lockers for illegal drugs. If its a prescription drug, school policy (spelled out in the student handbook, parent has to sign off each year they have read and understand school policy) is the student has to take the prescription med...
