thisnamecantbetaken says: Of the 40 states with right-to-carry laws, 20 allow guns in churches. Watching the debate in Arkansas was John Phillips, pastor of the Central Church of Christ in Little Rock. In 1986, Mr. Phillips was preaching in a different church there when a gunman shot him and a parishioner. Both survived, but Mr. Phillips, 51, still has a bullet lodged in his spine. In a telephone interview, he said he found the idea of “packing in the pew” abhorrent. Seriously, this "man of God" thinks Jesus would be OK with guns in Church. He is still walking around free to spout this garbage? The Beat Farmers' song, "Gun Sale at the Church", contains the line, "My two main men are Jesus and ol' John Birch. So, I'm going on down to the gun sale at the church." http://ekbworldwide.blogspot.com/2008/03/gun-sale-at-church.html Seriously, this "man of God" thinks Jesus would be OK with guns in Church. He is still walking around free to spout this garbage? But Jesus himself, instructed his disciples, for their own self defense, because of hostility, to be prepared, in Luke 22:36: ...and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.Given that there have been churches burned, and shootings in them (including among unarmed Amish), this cannot be called either evil or contrary to Jesus teaching. I wonder how the French Revolution would have gone if the Churches (though very corrupt) had been armed? Perhaps the murderous massacre of the violent mobs would have been prevented, or checked. |
