If you're in public, act like it. From my understanding these photos are taken by folk walking down the street, not satellites, correct?

You're right, the pictures are taken by people on the street and additionally they use special 360 Degree Cameras. I agree perfectly with your statement of acting like you're in public. People need to take responsiblity for what they do and that is the real problem not "Privacy Rights."
