it's just beginning adam...

the era of the marble has indeed begun (said in voice like Gandolf from Lord of the Rings).

Is the Options in Clipmarks extension supposed to be greyed out?
4-4-2006 12:47 PM
egoldstein
the save and print buttons should be greyed out until you select something from the page to clip. at that point, because you now have content selected, they will turn active (orange).

I was refering to the greyed out option in FF - Tools - Extensions - right click Clipmarks 0.9.8 - Options

ah, sorry arifsali. that's greyed out because there aren't any options at this time.

Tell us, Uncle Skwirl, of the days before the Great Marble Invasion. Uncle Goldstein told us that in the Pre-Spherical days, clippers welcomed the marbles and even played with them. That was before they realized how exponentially fast they reproduced. God rest the souls of those that tried to fight once they realized what was happening. They did not die in vain.

Oops! Just a few minutes ago I experienced something weird. I clicked on the rightmost button on the toolbar, selected the "Public" option and then Firefox was suddenly closed. I don't know, maybe it was something about a system problem, a temporary RAM problem or something else. I re-opened the browser and now everything's OK. Probably not important but in any case, I'm reporting the situation like a good user should do (as Microsoft always recommends)

OK, it seems I have problems with the new version. Very often, the "clip mode" does not work. If I close the browser and reopen it, it works. But with a consequent clipping attempt, the same happens. Firefox does not enter clip mode (though the button becomes orange). So I close/reopen the browser again. Anybody experiencing this problem?

Oh, a very strange behaviour: I've just realized that, it does not enter the clip mode on the page I want to clip, but it does on the other tab, clipmarks homepage, just on the clip window!

invictus, are you using clipmarks on a mac or pc?
4-4-2006 6:23 PM

On a PC... I've been trying some alternatives. It seems, this behaviour appears on some sites only. Or, more strangely on some certain pages of some sites. Like Yahoo' News or Reuters. Or maybe just a coincidence.

This is very funny and I have to tell this to you:

When I am on My Yahoo page, I click on a link and go to that news story's page, than click on "clip mode" button. It doesn't work. Then I press on browser's back button, to My Yahoo page again (clip mode left open) and it seems it works here. Then I press again "forward" button to access the news story page one more time. It loads and to my surprise, this time the clip mode works.

Ununderstandable. And I believe there are "code spirits" or "Internet genies" in it.

I thought I read that I should have an icon that looks like the "world" as opposed to a paperclip. I still have a paperclip and the world is not in my icon options (view / toolbars / customize). Is there anything else I'm missing? Meaning, can you tell me what the update to the extension fixed or added?

thank you!

Hey bookchick, just to clarify, you should still see the same 4 buttons in your clipmarks toolbar. These did not change. The green paperclip is still used to start clipping. The latest version fixed some issues reported by users and incorporates the new style and terminology of the site redesign.

A surefire way to see if you're using the new toolbar is to click on the right most button (the magnifying glass, with orange arrow). A dropdown will appear. If you see the "marbles" next to each option, then you are using the latest version (0.9.8). If not click here, then restart firefox.

Also, you can always see what Clipmarks version you are...

Hiya bookchick. The image you're talking about (the site's favicon) is stored in your browser's cache. You'll probably see the old paperclip until you empty your cache.

Thought you should know that Clickmarks is fully compatible with
IE7 even though it is still bin the build stage (Beta) so you won't need to make adjustments when it comes out, publically. That's all I can say about it as a tester.
