There was a clip recently about traumatised elephants, who appear to remember incidents for decades. Now we speak of elephant's memories but why not other animals, too.

I had a kitten, Althea, who got her front paw trodden on when she was just a wee tiny little thing. All her life, she was terrified of shoes and at the slightest sign of a shoelace...BAM, she was outta there! She lived to be almost 14 and never forgot. Bless her heart.

She never forgot the guy who accidentally stepped on her either and till her last dying breath, she never forgave him. She was actually pretty mental about it all. Haha. Silly cat.

None of my precious kitties have mental problems, not even Missy who enjoys running in circles around the kitchen table for many laps.

My observations indicate that cats can suffer from PTSD. I've had three who were abused by previous "owners", and they were MORE than skittish about some things. I have never had one who was "metal", however.

Yeah, that spelling error jumped out at me too.. but it also reminded me of these "metal" cats and their friends.

Hmm... now that I think about it, I actually don't think I have ever had a cat that wasn't a bit mental in some way.

When I moved out of my mothers house, she would not let me take the family dog. Despite the fact that the dog had chosen me as its person, and suffered extreme depression as a result. It broke my heart that my mother was so selfish, it broke the dogs heart too. I made it a point to visit often. [To see the dog] which were joyful times. But between those visits he'd sit mournfully at the window, crying real tears, waiting watching for my arrival. And would not eat or anything.

I knew a dog that was hit my lightning. After he survived that, any storm was traumatic. When the barometer went down he'd cower under furniture. He may have has PTSD?
