Power and Compassion....mutually exclusive??? Good question, One I need an answer for. Some of the most kind hearted people I've known have been nurses, that is until they go into "nurse mode". Sure I understand the whole professional detachment thing, but the fact that they can switch emotions so fast troubles me. It's scary. Power and compassion are not mutually exclusive, at least in 100% of cases.. Recent studies investigating the neuronal activity of incarcerated psychopathic killers revealed no activity in fMRI images of brain areas associated with compassion. Again, to underscore my point, to be incarcerated is hardly a position of power. |
