Growing up in Australia we had friends who would bring in sugar cane from their backyard. It was such a wonderful thing to get all that sweetness from something so natural. The teachers wouldn't like all the sticky hands though.

This sounds like a wonderful breakthrough.

Normal sugar has a GI of around 60.
