Thankfully -- and not a moment too soon -- the bill brought forth by Rep. King introduces a much-needed measure of common sense to the current debate, and he already has 156 co-sponsors. As House Republican Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) said earlier this week, "These lawmakers understand, as do the vast majority of Americans, that allowing illegal aliens to sign up for valid, legal ID is bad transportation policy, worse immigration policy, and an unconscionable national security policy. And though it may take another week or two for Sen. Clinton and Gov. Spitzer to arrive at that conclusion themselves, the American people knew it the minute it was offered -- and have since joined the rest of us in looking on in sheer bewilderment."
