It is COOL to do,be,promote anything Islam. It's not that that's bad or wrong in itself.
People do this with a sense that they are subtly crapping on the people who announce or are active against the IslamIST movement of radicalsas make up the SMALL slice of Muslims who are intent on violence. These people promote and elevate Islamic symbols, names, etc, not for the honest admiration or acknowledgment of peaceful Islam but, in a passive-aggressive gesture, to counteract things they loathe (like Christians)or disbelieve Like the threat of Islamist terrorism)
It seems to me largely dishonest intellectually.
