Hopefully they'll stay independent... though some are flocking to third parties, like the ultra right wing conservative "Libertarian" party. Hopefully that snake never raises it's ugly head..

I'm an evangelical former Republican, too. I voted for Bush the first time, having believed the "compassionate conservative" scam. I have registered as a Democrat for the purpose of participating in my state's caucuses, but I think I may go back to "I" eventually. I don't want to be "assumed" by either party.
And I feel like to follow in Jesus' footsteps means standing up for the powerless and pleading their case before the powerful. Whomever the powerful may be at any given moment, the pressure to prosper the rich and forget the poor will be enormous, and I want them to see my support as highly conditional.
