A funny thing: there are also seven virtues - two sets of seven, actually, but I think you'll find that far fewer people are aware of them than are those who know the sins.

One thing I find rather amusing is that the Archbishop of Manila from 1974 - 2003 was Jaime Sin. In 1976, he was elevated to the rank of Cardinal, making him, in official RC terminology, "Jaime Cardinal Sin".

@carrierinyes, about that time, I was in a number of language classes with a Filipina exchange student; she and I go to be good (though not intimate) friends, and she had a lot to say about getting away from the Filipines' Catholic orthodoxy. She told me that the cathedral in Manila became known as the :"House of Sin" and that she was glad that the Americans' governance of the Filipines made English prevalent enough for her to enjoy the joke.
