The truth of it all is that people are receiving far more from the plan then they contributed to it. Therefore they require that someone else fund it so that they can continue to get benefits. Lack of planning for my own personal affairs should not be forced upon my neighbors to provide for my needs. That being said. there are certainly situations where a helping hand is much needed. However; I feel that there has got to be a far better way to handle this then the cut rate health plans offered to those who UTILIZE it the most forcing others to have to pay higher rates and raising the total cost of health care across the board.

If I were to use the entitlement mentality across the board I would demand that my unemployment benefits continue indefinatly because I am unable to find a job. I mean someone should have to pay to take care of my family because I can not find work. I pay into this unemployment compensation through payroll deductions so why shouldn't I be able to get benefits for as long as I am off work?

A short term help is all most private sector insurance plans provide for. However; too many people want cradle to grave benefits funded by someone else. that thinking is the force behind hindering the reform of a failing SS system.

I am well aware of the fact that by the time I reach the ripe old age of retirement I best have a plan in place to provide for my longevity because the current system will have been bankrupt by my parents and grandparents generation. Thank you very much grandpop.
