This is just weird on weird with weird sauce!

I've always been amused by the fact that people who live in safe countries are often the most afraid of crime, but this goes far beyond the mere synchronicity of bourgeois ennui and paranoia.

While this will probably be a big hit at the Peter R. H. Sellers Memorial School for Espionage and Sleuthing, I can't imagine how impossibly stupid someone would have to be to ACTUALLY fall for it.

LOOK! You can see her sneakers sticking out from the bottom of the "vending machine!" Can you imagine someone hiding in this? There is something really messed up with Japan these days, on a monumentally surreal level!

The REAL Napster
but all reflecting a uniquely Japanese sensibility.
Unique? sure, yeah. Sensible? No way. Instead they will get hit by a car or truck due to decreased hearing and vision. I sometimes worry about those people. This is one of those times.

I clipped it mostly because I didn't want to lose this picture. I love the shoes sticking out. I also imagine her trying to sneak away while still in disguise.

Rocko-san: "Hey, Vinnie, is that vending machine skulking away?"

Vinnie-san: "Oh yeah, vending machines do that these days - new technology."

This is amazing. I never think of myself as a trend setter but about 20 years ago in an art class we were tasked to design an urban sleeping shelter for the homeless.

I designed a mock up of a coke machine where a person could sleep inside at a slanted upright position (as long as no one was disturbing your sleep trying to get refreshment).

Usually it's the Japanese trend setting for the U.S.. Would like to think I turned the tables on them just once. ha!
