The Ohio-class submarines served their purpose well during the 1970s and 1980s.  Then comes <A href="http://www.fas.org/nuke/control/start2/index.html">START II</A> in the early ’90s and an agreement by the U.S. to reduce the number of strategic missile submarines, and the present decade brings new threats.
