Don't forget that Unocal wanted to build a huge oil pipeline across Afghanistan and that we, the US, told the Taliban they could either accept a carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs.

We're talking $3.2 billion to build the pipeline so it did not go across Russian land. Imagine the potential profits involved if you can afford to build a $3.2 billion dollar pipeline.

I have been amazed at a similar attitude shown by the new Govt in Australia. It may be that that is the attitude those at the top agreed to all put it across to baffle us. The truth is probably that they are all scared shitless about Pakistan and it's nuclear capability.
