dmegivern says: Remember, the Heritage Foundation says that it is pro-life. How about a bold statement? I'm poor. In the UK today I just about survive. And it's tough. I can give you figures if you're interested. PC and broadband connection - thanks to Mum, and I'm middle-aged! Do you hear the anger!! The poor are the equivalent of the slave classes in previous times. Without the slave class there cannot be the unequal distribution of wealth that supports the rich. I am poor, i earn £10000 a year, i cant claim benifits cos apparently i earn too much, but after council tax and rent i have £35 a week for gas, elec, food etc etc. I get less than someone on benifits and i WORK. This world is evil. and most in it too. The working class poor people are keeping the rich rich, by us working for low pay were keeping our countries running. In turn tht keeps the rich rich, with us keeping the country going the rich can get paid more and more all the time they are always getting ridiculas rises. It costs 5 or 6 times more to send the army somewhere to invade than it does to feed the world. 15 of the 16 states highest in poverty, 2004-2006, are Red States that voted for Bush. Trickle down theory at work in its finest. I've been broke, but I've never been poor. If you are among the poor in America and you are wasting time spouting off your ignorance at Clipmarks, then being broke isn't your problem. Your problem is the attutude that makes you believe you are poor. Regardless of "poor" people, the point is that real poverty does not exist in America. To deny that there are really poor Americans strikes me as incontestable, it is such an utterly bizarre claim to make. I certainly never said there were not "poor" Americans. I know there are plenty of "poor". However, poor is a state mind. Like I said: I have been broke, but I've never been poor. Each individual is responsible for their own economic condition. There are more opportunities for people not to be poor than there are poor. If you are poor in America ,9 times out of 10, it is because one did not finish high school, has a criminial record, is too lazy and irresponsible to keep a job, had a baby out of wedlock, or has a drug or alcohol problem. All of these things are only correctable by the individual, not anyone else. However, real poverty does not exist. I have been broke, but I've never been poorOk well, poor is when you are broke, but all the time. I am a bit confused here. Obviously there is a massive debate around the causes of poverty but that is because there IS poverty - and some of it is 'real'. Again, obviously, there is much debate over banding the spectrum of poverty, but surely it cannot be denied that some people suffer from 'real poverty' at the far end of the spectrum? Poverty is very real Oh willhelm is one of these bootstrappers. Did it all himself with the aid of no one, never received a public subsidized education, never benefited in any selection process by belonging to the correct group in a male and anglo dominated society, Granted, if you have lived in a third world country, American poverty is luxurious compared to others but that doesn't mean there isn't a fortune being wasted in defense and war expenditures, or ridiculous levels of CEO compensation, that could make the entire worlds plight better. I seen a clip the other day that made me think. the clip was about a maxium wage. This would be absoutley pefect to start shaping the world and sive out the poor. You say poor dosent exist, by my theory anyone who erns more than you do is richer than you making you poorer than them , and in turn your classed as poor, is that not true? Money is important for the ecomany but it is also the worst thing put into place with only limitaions on minimum wage. Their should be a cut on how much a human actually needs, then all spare money should be shared out equal;ly amoung the rest of the people. I think as long as everyone earns more or less the same amount of money for the jobs they do. The wage ... In truth there really really isn't any reason why one human should get paid a lot more than another human. The people who believe this is not true are generally people in the higher posistion. We may be more evolved in the brain, but whats to say a lion or a tiger can't evolve a higher state of mind. In the end we were basic animals at one point. The point being, what makes one human more valuable than another. Helthcare is really the only explanation that defines rich and poor. Richer people generally have better health. Poorer people generally have lower health. Why should anyone person recive better or more healthcare than any other person becuase of how much money they earn or wether they can afford it. People earning double what i earn can afford healthcare i cant, if that does not define poor what does? Willhelm If you are poor in America, 9 times out of 10, it is because one did not finish high school, has a criminal record, is too lazy and irresponsible to keep a job, had a baby out of wedlock, or has a drug or alcohol problem. All of these things are only correctable by the individual, not anyone else. The key word in your text is BECAUSE. We don’t possess the same amount of resources and knowledge BECAUSE we are simply not all equal in our spiritual, psychical and physical abilities. Not every individual is as strong and bright and positively determined as you are (you have my high respect!). We are all social beings and we all have strong impact, positive and negative, t... |
