I have an Icelandic copy of the bible. It opens with the line, "In the begining, god shaped the heavens and the earth." Maybe that translator knew ancient Hebrew better than others.

(In case you're wondering, the Icelandic reads "Í upphafi skapaði Guð himinn og jörð.")
