More "loving" christian speech. Hope the POTUS and his family both outlive and out-prosper the lot of them. I am very opposed to most of Obama's policies, but this is disgusting. I don't think a true Christian could pray for personal harm to come on to someone. I didn't like it when people said this stuff about Bush either... and oohh did they ever. No matter how bad a President Obama turns out to be it couldn't possibly be as bad for this country as it would be to have another JFK type situation... especially with Biden and Nancy Pelosi being next in line. God help us all. If any nutjob out there is thinking about doing something... it would solve nothing and cause this country to be ripped apart. The pro-assassination crowd is eager to rip this country apart. The 2 main groups competing for the privilege are: Right wing evangelical christians; their purpose is to destroy the planet in order to bring about the "rapture". Kind of like forcing their god's hand to hurry up with armageddon. And Right wing white supremacists; they love "anarchy" primarily because it will give each different group an opportunity to set itself up as a mini-monarchy, in the style of feudal-era Europe. In other words, destroy the U.S. so "El Supremo" can remake it in his own image, complete with dominion over whoever doesn't fit his definition of personhood. I know a number of evangelical christians and I don't know one who wants to destroy the planet or "force God's hand". I also don't know one who would endorse praying for physical harm. You sound incredibly biased. These t-shirts were probably made by a non-christian just trying to make a buck... possibly even a liberal trying to paint Christians as a bunch of racist yahoos while they try to make a buck. Possibly even the "Journalists" at MSNBC http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/2EEA20FE-2DB5-492F-ADA8-C5D6296A5DDC/ This shirt quote became a hot topic at DIY t-shirt sites Zazzle and Cafepress over the past week. Zazzle did the right thing and banned the designs. CP banned the designs, then allowed them and now today banned them again...probably because some of their big political stores shut down to move to Zazzle. I am biased, more credibly than "incredibly". The destructive, hate-filled, irrational, deliberately ignorant and frothing blather of the immoderate right is wearing me down. Aside from the fact that I have violent and trigger-happy relatives in both camps, I also live in a community that includes more than one militia-minded herd. This area was and still is prime real estate for Eric Rudolph and his supporters. I have been spiritually and physically threatened by these idiots, and had to resort to some rather repugnant actions to get them out of my face. So. I do not underestimate the extent of their rapacity or their capacity for use of deadly force to promote their goals. They may call themselves Christians, but I do not consider any white supremacist group to be Christian. Their extreme hatred is incompatible with Christian teachings. All Racism is disgusting to me including so called "reverse racism". I think most people have some prejudice which is quite different than racism. Stereotypes unfortunately will always exist... partly due to the way our brains categorize things to simplify the storage and retrieval process. It sounds like you have some stereotypes about Christians which are different than mine. It sounds like you live in an area of the country that is vastly different than where I am. I hope your bias doesn't turn into hatred (as you say it is wearing you down). |
