all these had happened despite the dark ages being the dark age...a read through the history shall reveal the hell they were going through... It happens, when a handful of people shows courage and resistence to the general atmosphere prevalent in any country and to create such miracles...history has lot of evidance for this view point too! Dark just means we don't know many of the details, and it seems that 'recognized' history of what has happened since is not necessarily any more accurate. Any number of North and South American tribes, the Chinese, Japanese, people of the Subcontinent,Micronesia, Melanesia, Australian Aborigines, etc etc, including most Europeans carried on life as normal, as in their eyes, it had always been. The 'Dark' may be a reference to the glasses we wear to view them. Something I had noticed when reading about the "dark ages or the medieval era was that there seemed to be some festival or other throughout most weeks of the year. Contrast that to our wondrous modern-day rat race where many people are working longer and longer hours and some are afraid to take an annual vacation. Well, not actually longer hours .... despite the times we live in there are still only sixty minutes in each hour. Although there is a rumor going around that this oversight will soon be ammended despite the times we live in there are still only sixty minutes in each hour.LOL! If only that weren't true. you must be kidding. A false Christianity, not taught by Jesus or the apostles, ruled in a religious and ecclesiastical tyranny that prevented literacy and private inquiry--under threats of death! Now start tracing the time line of the invention of the Printing Press, the Bible in people's own language (instead of Latin, unknown but to the clergy), the Reformation, etc, and you will see just how dark (and bloody) the Dark Ages were! Wycliffe was burned at the stake for producing Bible's in the common language. If the "dark ages" were not dark, then why the revolution to get free? The darkness of the dark ages is that in the eyes of the present. |
